Have you ever been rejected? You probably have, otherwise you won’t be reading this, am I right? I myself have been rejected countless of times and I came to learn how to handle it over time.
Rejection is something that we all have to deal with in every aspect of our lives. But did you know that the act of being rejected is not the worst part? Instead it’s the frustration that comes after. It’s this frustration that drives us nuts, some even to the point of being chronically depressed. Others handle it well but the majority just don’t know how to take care of it so here are some tips that might just help you professionally handle rejection.
1. Accept the fact that everybody gets rejected. I don’t care whether you’ve ever been rejected before or not. We all experience rejection at some point in our life. If you learn to accept this fact then you’re half-way there.
2. Try to understand why you were rejected. If you know the “why” then you’ll know the how. This also gets rid of the aftershock which we call frustration. The worst thing you can do after experiencing rejection is to throw yourself into a fit of rage and not try to understand why you have to go through it in the first place.
3. Learn from other people’s experience. While it’s true that we all are bound to experience rejection at one point in our life, you must also know that you can actually avoid most of it by learning from other people’s experiences. Talk to the successful people in the same field as you and listen to their stories. Ask them how they handled it and learn from that.
What’s so professional with the 3 tips I just outlined? Nothing really but that’s how the professionals do it – myself included.
Really! It’s as easy as that. If you don’t believe me then give it a try.
