Goals and Making Excuses

How many of your goals last year did you fail to achieve? How many of those failures were due to the fact that you were making excuses? If you’re the typical Joe then the chances are most (if not all) of your goals weren’t realized because you made excuses each time you had to do what needs to be done.

I know for a fact that I myself have made excuses on some of my goals last year and trust me when I say that there’s already been an improvement on that. Years back, I just make an excuse for every goal I set and I always end up being the same average guy the next year – until I decided that the pattern of making excuses must stop!  Last year was way better than the other years.

I know you’ve heard this a lot of times before but I’ll say it again in hopes that you will remember. Believe it or not but the number one thing that blocks you from achieving your goals is YOU.

The very moment I decided to get rid of the hindrance called ME, everything else became clear and easier. All of a sudden, I had a sense of direction and the list of things that needs to be done became apparent. In fact, last year was one of the best years in my life!

What about you? Are you still making excuses?

  1. No question it is incredibly tough, and the only person you can blame is yourself.

I set goals all the time and invariably break them. It is frustrating to say the least.

    • @Jon – yes, you’re right. The main person to blame is yourself. Don’t try to set too many goals. The fewer goals the more focused you can be in achieving them.
